The company is well aware of the rapid growth of the Polish economy, and therefore continuously adapts to changing market conditions by modifying and expanding the range of its services.
Logus knows very well that these days, efficient business management is inextricably linked to IT solutions – therefore, as early as in 2003, it used the InterMag 2000 Warehouse Management System (WMS). The solution performed really well for a long time. Nowadays however, it became obsolete and cannot meet the growing expectations of the company.
“Constant development of technologies and growing expectations of customers force us to observe market trends in the area of IT solutions very carefully, so that we can provide our customers with state-of-the-art solutions and allow them to manage their inventory even in the most complex manner,” says Jacek Oskiera, Sales Director, Logus.
The company needed a solution allowing it to work with radio terminals, which already became an industry standard. Moreover, two important issues became more and more cumbersome for the company, namely difficulties in managing goods in the co-packing zone and lack of system-based goods carrier administration. Therefore, the company decided to replace the legacy software with state-of-the-art Effect Warehouse system developed by Consafe Logistics.
Effect Warehouse deployment
The process of deploying the new system began with analyzing current situation and the customer’s needs. It was also necessary to schedule the implementation tasks so that the process has minimum impact on Logus’s operations.
The first stage included preparing data migration from the legacy InterMag 2000 system to the new platform. Then, it was possible to launch the underlying, standard release of the Effect Warehouse software. However, this release did not provide any capabilities required to meet the company’s new requirements. Once the implementation test results were satisfactory, it was possible to advance to the stage of tailoring the new system to the customer’s needs by adding new functionalities. However, a major issue came up at that stage – it appeared that the Functional Design (the document functioning as the basis of the deployment) is too general and it is impossible to recreate the company’s logistic processes correctly. “Working out the details and understanding the needs and options available for both partners cost both companies a lot of time and energy. We managed to solve the problem thanks to splendid project management and committing new project managers to the project – on behalf of Consafe Logistics and Logus,” says Jarosław Bukowski, Sales & Marketing Director, Consafe Logistics.
The final stage included training courses on Effect Warehouse administration and operation for Logus employees. Moreover, larger groups of employees participated in meetings organized to discuss the new system’s capabilities and functioning.
Benefits
By replacing the legacy WMS system, Logus has considerably increased the efficiency of its logistics processes and product inventory management. „The first thing we noticed was much faster administrative processing of warehouse operations and shorter picking times,” says Jacek Oskiera. At present, the company plans to deploy radio terminals, which in collaboration with the new software are expected to eliminate all the errors that occasionally occur while accepting or handing over goods. To ensure optimum system operation and maintenance, the companies signed a service agreement, the provisions of which make Consafe Logistics responsible for troubleshooting any possible critical system errors within 5 days. So far, no such actions have been necessary.
